Big around the waist

The dress itself is lovely, it has pockets (big bonus) and is a nice light material. However the sizing is a bit unusual, I bought a size 1 - I’m pear shaped and usually a 12/14 in dresses. Although the waist is elasticated it is still huge around the middle so I’ll need to wear a belt with it to stop it looking like a sack. It would be better if the dress had belt hoops or a drawstring waist so the sizing was more adjustable to different body shapes.
